HDGH visitors must soon be fully vaccinated

If you need to visit someone at Windsor's Hotel-Dieu Grace Healthcare, changes are soon coming.

Starting Monday, November 22, visitors and designated care providers to the Prince Road campus will have to be fully vaccinated. They will be required to present proof of vaccination and a photo ID before being allowed on campus.

However, patients and clients will not be refused entry solely based on vaccination status, and all people on campus will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPEs).

"As a healthcare provider you have come to know and trust in Windsor-Essex, it is our responsibility to ensure the safety of our patients, staff, physicians and individuals entering the HDGH campus," said CEO Janice Kaffer in a media release. "Our staff and physicians have worked incredibly hard through this pandemic, and together with vaccines, masking, testing and physical distancing, we can combat this virus, but it takes each of us to do our part."

Negative COVID-19 tests can currently be used in place of proof of vaccination, but that will no longer be the case as of November 22. Exceptions to the policy will be made on an individual basis.

Also on November 22, visitor limits per patient will be lifted. Until that date, a maximum of two people is allowed to visit an individual patient. Visiting hours, though, will stay as they are.
