Spitfires fall 5-1 to Owen Sound

The Windsor Spitfires fell 5-1 to the Owen Sound Attack during a second matchup Saturday night.

There was non-stop action in the first period but neither team could get the puck past either netminder. The period ended scoreless and the Spitfires had a narrow lead with 13-10 shots.

In the second period, the Spitfires started the power play but came up empty. Just six minutes into the second period the Attack scored the first goal of the game.

The Attack scored a second time with under five minutes left in the period and put them up 2-0.

Going into the third period, the Attack secured a third goal and minutes later, followed it up with another to make a 4-0 lead.

A couple of minutes after going up 4-0, the Spitfires scored but it was called off after a goalie interference call ruled it no goal.

Halfway through the period, LeSage from Owen Sound scored short side to make it 5-0. However, the Spitfires had a late powerplay chance to break the shutout and did just that.

The Windsor Spitfires will take on the Guelph Storm at the WFCU Centre on Thursday, October 28.
