The Windsor Spitfires defeated the Owen Sound Attack 7-4 at home Thursday night.

Both teams spent the first period warming up making some attempts at the net, but finished the frame scoreless.

Heading into second, the Spits decided it was time to secure the first point of the game with a goal by Wyatt Johnson and an assist from Grayson Ladd 1:51 into the period. The Attack responded to Windsor’s goal nearly two minutes later to tie things up 1-1.

Windsor defencemen Louka Henault took a shot on Owen Sound’s net 11:49 into the second frame keeping Windsor one goal ahead however, the Attack proved they wanted to close the lead by tying things up again capping off the second period 2-2.

As the third period began, Henault broke the tie for Windsor again with his second goal and the team’s third just 2:22 in. The Attack scrambled to keep up the score tied with a third goal of their own just minutes after the Spits scored.

Windsor retaliated with three more consecutive goals with less than 10 minutes left in the period by Nicholas DeAngelis, Will Cuylle and yet another by Henault. Owen Sound scored once more in an attempt to bridge the gap somewhat, but Cuylle scored his second goal of the game defeating the Attack 7-4.

The Spits hit the road Friday to take on the Kitchener Rangers at 7:30 p.m.
