Photos released of vehicle possibly linked to fatal hit-and-run of elderly Windsor man

Windsor police have released additional photos of a vehicle suspected to have been involved in a fatal hit-and-run crash last week.

The incident happened last Friday at around 7 a.m. police say. Officers responded to the area of Janette Avenue and Elliott Street West for a report of a man laying on the road. A 70-year-old man, whose name has not been released, was taken to hospital where he later died.

Late Wednesday evening, investigators released several new images of an SUV suspected to have been the vehicle that hit the victim. Police are now searching for a black, first generation Chevrolet Equinox (2005-2009). The vehicle was last seen travelling east on Giles Boulevard, from Janette Avenue shortly after the crash.

Police say a vehicle matching the description will likely have damage to it as a result of the collision.

Anyone with security footage or dash cameras near the area around the same time the incident took place is asked to review their footage for possible evidence.

Information about a possible driver of the suspect vehicle or the incident can be reported to the Windsor Police Service at 519-255-6700 extension: 4830, or extension: 4000 after hours. Tips can also be sent to Crime Stoppers anonymously at 519-258-TIPS (8477).
