Windsor Zombie Walk happening this weekend

The Scarehouse Windsor Zombie Walk is back this year after having to pivot due to the pandemic last year.

In addition to the more traditional zombie walk, the zombie maze created in lieu of the walk last year, will also return.

Participants are being asked to bring a monetary or canned food item as a donation to the Downtown Mission and the Windsor Youth Centre. Donations will allow participants to take part in the walk and grant them access to the zombie maze.

“Usually, you have to go into the main Scarehouse attraction (Scared Evil Haunted House) and then you can purchase admission to one or both of the add on attractions (Haunted Darkness and Zombie Maze),” explained Scarehouse co-owner Shawn Lippert. ”But like last year, on Windsor Zombie Walk night people can bring in at least two canned goods or make a monetary donation and they can go right into the Zombie Maze without having to go into Scared Evil first.”

The WZW will begin outside Scarehouse Windsor located at 1441 McDougall Avenue. at Shepherd Street on Saturday October 16. Participants will gather at 5:30 p.m. and at dusk head down Windsor Avenue., through part of Jackson Park and back to Scarehouse Windsor.

Organizers say social distancing and health and safety protocols continue to be in effect for the walk and maze.

Prizes will be awarded for Best Zombie, Cutest Lil' Zombie, Best Zombie Couple and Best Apocalypse Survivor or Survivor Team.
