Vaccine requirements coming to LaSalle facilities

The town of LaSalle is preparing for the province's vaccine requirements later this month.

With the province requiring people to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination to enter some facilities beginning September 22, LaSalle will set up guidelines for people using the Vollmer Recreation Complex and the LaSalle Civic Centre.

All employees and volunteers with the town must be either fully vaccinated or take a COVID-19 test twice a week.

Visitors aged 12 and older wanting to use either facility will need to present proof of vaccination and a photo ID for admittance. At the Vollmer Complex, this includes all players, staff, and spectators.

Children under 12 may be asked to show proof of age. Based on provincial guidelines, a negative COVID-19 test will not entitle a visitor to enter.

At the Civic Centre, the guidelines apply to all visitors conducting town business, attending council meetings, and anyone using the LaSalle branch of the Essex County Library.

The town has reminded residents that attempting to present fraudulent documentation may result in privileges being revoked.

As the town begins to offer fall recreational programming, people who are taking classes are being asked to wear face coverings except when doing certain physical activities. People should also bring their own water bottles, arrive no earlier than 30 minutes before their scheduled activity, and take any belongings with them afterwards, as staff will be directed to throw anything away that is left behind.

Residents are also asked not to use the facilities if they are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms. If you're sick, stay home and away from other people.
