Local school boards release back to school plans

All local school boards have released back to school plans as they prepare for the start of the new school year next week.

All students from kindergarten to Grade 12 will be required to wear a mask while indoors. This differs from the provincial plan which indicates masks are only required for Grade 1 and up.

Parents and guardians of elementary school children are required to assess their children daily for signs of illness using the provincial screening tool. For at least two weeks, students will need to show proof the screening was completed before attending class.

Following the recommendations of the Windsor Essex County Health Unit, all extra-curricular activities, including sports, clubs, field trips, and other nonessential activities, within all school settings (both elementary and secondary schools) will be delayed until at least October 2021.

Visitors to the schools will also be kept at a minimum while cases are spreading throughout the community.

A full breakdown of each boards' back to school plan can be found online through the Greater Essex County District School Board website, the Windsor Essex Catholic District School Board website, the CSC Providence website or the conseil scolair Viamonde website.
