Another arrest in Niagara homicide investigation

The Niagara Regional Police Service has made another arrest in the double homicide investigation involving a Windsor woman.

At around 4 a.m. January 19, police responded to reports of gunshots fired at a home in Fort Erie. When officers arrived, they found the bodies of Juliana Pannunzio, 20 of Windsor and Christine Crooks of Toronto. Both women were part of a group of people who had booked a short-term rental for a party. However, the others at the gathering fled before officers arrived.

Police have now arrested and charged Trevor Barnett, 29 of Scarborough, in connection to the investigation. Barnett is facing charges of accessory after the fact to murder.

Detectives previously arrested Christopher Lucas, 22, of Scarborough who was charged with two counts of First Degree Murder.

Heidi Bahler, 29 of Scarborough, has also been charged with being an accessory after the fact and obstruction of justice in relation to the case.

Niagara police say some of the people who attended the party that night are still not cooperating with the investigation.

Since this is still an active investigation, no other information is being released at this time.
