The Municipality of Leamington is working on a long-range traffic plan for some of its busier streets.
The boundaries of the study area are Sherk Street to the west, Seacliffe Drive to the south, Oak Street to the north, and Leamington Trail.
The municipality wants to improve access for drivers and enhance safety on those roads. It will also look at multi-modal transportation in that area, including sidewalks, bike paths, and public transit, and create a 10-year forecast anticipating the needs in 2030.
Between 2015 and 2020, there were 358 crashes in that area, including 70 at Erie Street South and Pulford Avenue. There were 62 people hurt in those accidents, and there was one fatality. Most happened between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.
A previous public engagement session was held virtually in January.
Now that the study group has finished its study, its findings are included in a second public engagement session available now until September 3. Residents can give feedback online immediately after viewing the presentation.
