Police visit Town of Amherstburg properties

The mayor of Amherstburg has issued a statement after the police visited some town properties on Monday.

Mayor Aldo DiCarlo did not confirm the nature of the police visit.

"I want to be very clear that their attendance had nothing to do with any criminal activities on the part of any town employees. Any affected staff remain employed with the town," said DiCaro in the statement.

The statement indicated that Susan Hirota, in-house legal counsel for the town, has temporarily been assigned the CAO's duties.  DiCarlo said the remaining management team is assisting with any other duties as needed with the council's full support.

"We are presently doing our due diligence in reviewing some issues that were brought to our attention," said DiCarlo.

John Miceli is the current CAO of the Town of Amherstburg however there has been no confirmation surrounding his involvement with any police investigation.  Miceli has been the CAO in Amherstburg since 2014.
