WECHU reporting 11 new COVID-19 cases

The number of active COVID-19 cases is on the rise again in Windsor-Essex.

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit reported 11 new cases on Wednesday, bringing the total number of active cases up to 48.  Among the new cases, three cases were community-acquired and one is a close contact of a previous infection. Staff continue to investigate seven cases.

There is one COVID-19 patient receiving treatment in the hospital.

The health unit is monitoring three active outbreaks in area workplaces.

Ontario reported 139 new cases on Wednesday out of 17,100 people who were tested.

To date, 76.1 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents 12 years and older have been partially vaccinated and 67.1 per cent have been fully vaccinated.
