UPDATE: Caesars Windsor is getting ready to reopen its hotel, Neros

It opened its doors to patrons again last Friday and table games resumed on Thursday. Now it plans to reopen the hotel with 220 rooms on August 12.

Unifor Local 444, which represents unionized workers at Caesars Windsor, said another 61 employees, including guest service and room representatives, laundry attendants, janitors, and bell people, will be called back to work.

The union announced the recall on its Facebook page on Wednesday.

Face masks are mandatory inside the casino and social distancing measures are in place, along with plexiglass barriers and hand sanitizing stations.

Caesars also announced on Thursday afternoon that it will reopen Neros Steakhouse on Saturday, August 14. It will be open Wednesday through Sunday on a reservation system.

"We are pleased to again offer an unforgettable, fine dining experience at Neros, complete with spectacular atmosphere, delectable menu, superb service and an exceptional wine selection," said Caesars Windsor President Kevin Laforet.

Most of the resort's other restaurants and bars remain closed until further notice, along with the spa and the poker room.

The casino was allowed to reopen in step three of the provincial government's Roadmap to Reopening plan back on July 16. It is allowed to operate at 50 per cent capacity until Ontario enters the final step.

Aside from a brief reopening last November, Caesars Windsor has been closed since March 2020.
