Another trash pickup for flooded-out Windsorites

Windsor residents who have had property damaged by this weekend's thunderstorms can schedule a special pickup.

The City of Windsor said that anyone who suffered significant basement flooding during Saturday's torrential rain and thunder should call 311 to schedule an appointment for help in getting damaged goods to the landfill. This request applies to those who have already contacted the 311 service to arrange an extra pickup.

The special collection, though, is being scheduled for residents who are not going through their homeowners' insurance, as insurance providers coordinate pickup for their clients.

Residents who want a special trash collection must contact 311 no later than 4 p.m. Thursday. Material to be collected must be placed at the curb and ready to be picked up. Trucks will pick up the material between Wednesday and Friday of this week.

This extra collection follows the second time in July that torrential rain resulted in flooded basements across the city.
