Heavy rainfall causes more flooding at Windsor Regional Hospital

Windsor Regional Hospital officials are assessing the damage from another heavy rainfall that caused more flooding throughout the main campuses.

Hospital officials said the flooding occurred in most of the locations that were recently affected by a storm on July 16.

According to a news release, the Met Campus had flooding in the emergency department entrance as well as some procedure rooms and hallways in the diagnostic imaging area. Other areas that are being cleaned up include the front lobby, the ground level of the cancer centre, shipping and receiving, and the kitchen.

At the Ouellette Campus, water once again impacted the cardiac catheterization lab, which has been closed since July 16, as a result of the last storm. The cath lab was on target to reopen on July 26, but hospital staff will need to reassess those plans.

Several hallways and the Ouellette Campus kitchen were also impacted.

The full extent of the flooding is still being assessed.
