Couple marries at Erie Shores Healthcare (Video)

Most people get married in a church, or maybe in a scenic spot, but one Kingsville couple decided to exchange their vows at Erie Shore Healthcare over the weekend.

Junior and Christine Bickford have been friends for 71 years and decided to tie the knot at Lakeside Park.

The couple is in their 70s.

When Junior was admitted to the hospital, it looked like their big day was in peril. However, the two love birds decided not to let a little adversity get in their way. They held the ceremony on the front lawn of the hospital on Saturday.

The ceremony was small. Only ten people attended, all family of the bride and groom. All of them followed COVID-19 protocols by wearing face masks and social distancing where possible.

A hospital spokesperson could not say what led to Junior Bickford's stay because of confidentiality rules but said he did not have COVID-19.

The Flower Shop at Thiessen's donated the bride's bouquet, Lakeside Bakery provided a wedding cake, and Whiskeyjack Photography donated their time to take wedding photos.
