Two charged in armed robbery

The Windsor Police Service says two men face charges after an armed robbery on Canada Day.

Police were called to the area of Wyandotte Street East and Moy Avenue around 5:45 a.m. Thursday. Officers spoke to the victim of the robbery and learned that it had happened about an hour before on Seminole Street near Alexis Road.

"The victim was robbed at gun point by an adult male and a quantity of currency and the victim's maroon 2008 Chevrolet Silverado pick-up truck were taken," police said.

Around 6:45 a.m., police responded to a report of suspicious activity on Ypres Avenue near Meldrum Road. Two men were seen taken stickers off the windshield of a pickup truck, which police say was the stolen truck.

Two men were arrested and a search of a vehicle turned up a firearm, ammunition, and illegal drugs.

A 37-year-old Windsor man and a 30-year-old Windsor man each face several charges.

Police are asking anyone with information to call them or Crime Stoppers.
