Tecumseh pool to reopen July 3

Tecumseh residents will have their "cool" place reopening in July.

With the Ontario government beginning the process of reopening businesses and recreational facilities, the town announced Friday that it will reopen the Tecumseh Leisure Pool at Lacasse Park on Saturday, July 3.

The pool complex will have protocols in place to ensure safety for those who use it. Mayor Gary McNamara says he knows residents are eager to cool off in the pool this summer.

"We are very excited to open the pool this year after having to remain closed last summer,” said McNamara. "We know how important it is for our young people to learn to swim, and we are pleased to be offering our Learn to Swim program this summer."

The town once again offers the Tot Time, adult lengths, Aquafit, and family swim programs. Swimming classes will be offered for a variety of age groups. For young adults wanting to learn lifeguarding and leadership roles, training programs will be in place.

An update video on the pool has been produced by Tecumseh Parks and Recreation and can be viewed on the department's Facebook page.

"We ask those planning to visit the leisure pool to watch our 'Return to the Pool' video before attending the facility, to ensure they are familiar with the new rules in place to keep everyone safe while enjoying the water," said Tecumseh Parks and Recreation Director Paul Anthony.

Pool capacity will be reduced to comply with provincial reopening guidelines, and are subject to change should the province adjust reopening, along with guidance from the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit.

Some courses may already be booked, but for complete information on the pool and the programs being offered, visit the town's official website.
