Windsor-Essex sees just 3 new COVID-19 cases

COVID-19 daily case counts in Windsor-Essex are back in the single digits.

The Windsor-Essex County Health unit reported only three new cases on Sunday.

According to the local health unit, all three cases are still being investigated.

The overall case count in Windsor-Essex is now at 16,721. As of Sunday, there are 115 active cases and 13 hospitalizations. To date, 1,918 preliminary or confirmed variant of concern cases have been identified in the region.

There were 10 more recoveries reported over the past 24 hours, bringing the number of resolved cases up to 16,173.

There were no changes to local outbreaks from Saturday to Sunday, with three ongoing workplace outbreaks and two community outbreaks.

Meanwhile, there were no new deaths reported on Sunday, with the death toll in the region remaining at 433.

As of Sunday, 189,113 Windsor-Essex residents have received one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine while 75,802 residents are fully vaccinated.

Across Ontario, provincial health officials reported 530 new cases on Sunday, seven more deaths and 763 additional recoveries. As of Saturday night, the province had administered 11.2 million doses of the vaccine.
