Day camp registration opens Monday, more rec programming available

Municipalities are preparing to offer more recreation services as the province enters Step 1 of reopening.

“First and foremost we need to ensure the staff re-deployed to the mass vaccination efforts, many of whom are from our parks and recreation areas, can continue that vital work,” said Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens. “Getting our community vaccinated remains job one! But, as opportunity to transition comes, we’ll do all we can to get staff retrained and ready to open our venues as quickly as possible.”

Day camps will be offered at three locations in the city starting on July 5, 2021. The Capri Pizza Recreation Complex, Forest Glade Community Centre, and Windsor Water World. Registration opens on June 14, 2021.

All six outdoor pools in the City of Windsor will open Monday, July 5 by appointment only. times can be booked through the City of Windsor recreation website,

During Step 1 sports fields will be allowed to open with a max of 10 people. When the province enters Step 2 outdoor sports leagues will be allowed to resume.

The Town of Tecumseh will also be offering some recreational programming this year but will not be offering day camps.

“We are pleased to offer modified programming again this summer,” said Tecumseh Mayor Gary McNamara. “Our goal is to keep residents active while adhering to public health guidelines and working within the provincial Roadmap. We thank the community for their patience and hope our residents take advantage of activities our team has put together.”
