WECHU names new CEO

The Board of Directors at the Windsor Essex County Health Unit has named Nicole Dupuis as the next Chief Executive Officer.

Dupuis will replace current CEO and Chief Nursing Officer Theresa Marentette, who is retiring at the end of June.

Dupuis is the current Director of Health Promotion and has been a part of the senior leadership team at the health unit since 2014.

“She is well respected for her knowledge and expertise in public health, and has been an instrumental help and right-hand to both Theresa and Dr. Ahmed during the last 14 to 15 months in serving our community through the pandemic,” said Board Chair Tecumseh Mayor Gary McNamara.

Marentette has been with the health unit since 1989. She announced her retirement in April. Marentette said she knows she is leaving the health unit in good hands.

“I feel good about the outcome of this search, and I am very happy for her and I think she will do a great job,” said Marentette.

Dupuis will officially take on the role on July 1, 2021.
