US digital firm to expand to Windsor-Essex

An American technology firm will use Windsor-Essex as its entry into Canada.

Soothsayer Analytics, which has offices in the Detroit area as well as Columbus, Ohio, announced Thursday that it will expand into Windsor-Essex.

Soothsayer CEO Gaurav Agrawal said Canada is a breeding ground for expansion in data and artificial intelligence.

"Recognizing that Canada is undergoing a major digital transformation, Soothsayer cannot imagine a better place for expansion," said Agrawal in a media release. "Our highly unique abilities in advanced analytics and artificial intelligence will provide an unparalleled offering to companies looking for a competitive edge in the Canadian market, and we look forward to collaborating with local companies to build world-class solutions to complex and meaningful problems."

Invest Windsor-Essex CEO Stephen MacKenzie said Soothsayer is the latest example of a company wanting to take advantage of the unique relationship between Canada and the U.S.

"Invest WindsorEssex is extremely pleased to welcome Soothsayer Analytics to our region," said MacKenzie. "This is another great example of a US-based ICT company choosing Windsor-Essex to establish its Canadian operations as a result of our strategic location and strong binational talent and workforce pipeline."

The company is expected to be established in the region later this summer, and will eventually hire over 20 data specialists.
