Sunwing announces return to Windsor's airport

It is welcome news for those eager to start planning a post-pandemic getaway.

Starting in December, Sunwing will have bi-weekly flights to two sunny destinations in Cuba.

The tour operator will offer flights on Tuesdays and Thursdays to Varadero and Cayo Santa Maria starting December 14 and 16. The flights will go until mid-April.

Sunwing ceased flights at the Windsor International Airport at the start of the pandemic in March 2020.

"Our regional gateways, including Windsor, are at the forefront of our operations, and we're excited to be offering residents convenient departures from their local airport," said President of Tour Operations Andrew Dawson.

From now until the end of the month, it is also offering what it calls its "Freedom 21/22 Sale," where travellers can get up to $1,000 in value on select vacation packages.

If you book and circumstances in the pandemic take a turn for the worse, Sunwing said vacationers would be able to cancel or change their plans with ease.
