More charges for Windsor teacher

A Windsor teacher is facing more charges of child sexual exploitation and child pornography.

The Windsor Police Service first charged Ryan Turgeon, a teacher with the Catholic school board, on April 28 with communicating with a person believed to be under the age of sixteen years for the purpose of facilitating the commission of a sexual assault and distributing sexually explicit material to a person believed to be under the age of 16 years.

Since then, two more victims have come forward. It was alleged the suspect was communicating electronically with the victims who were under the age of 18. The Windsor Police Service investigators say the communications allegedly involved the sharing of sexually explicit content.

Turgeon was arrested again on Tuesday and charged with making sexually explicit material available to a child, sexual exploitation, and possessing, making and accessing child pornography. None of the charges have been proven in court.

“In the interest of public safety, the Windsor Police Service would like to notify the public that the offender was in a position of trust and authority within the community at the time of the offences, in relation to persons under the age of 18 years. He has been involved with children in either a volunteer or professional capacity between 2012 and 2021 within Essex County,” said a news release by Constable Talya Natyshak.
