UPDATE: Attempted murder charge laid in Bruce Ave incident

Windsor police say a person has been arrested in connection with a weekend incident on the west end.

Officers were called Sunday afternoon to a home on Bruce Avenue between Erie Street West and Caroline Street. When they arrived, they found two people outside the home with apparent burns.

Both victims were rushed to hospital with grave injuries.

Investigators learned that two people known to each other had an argument, during which one of the them lit a fire that seriously injured both of them.

The person who lit the fire will be charged with attempted murder, said Constable Talya Natyshak. Due to the nature of the investigation and to protect the identity of the victim, police will not release the suspect's name or other information.

That section of Bruce Avenue was closed Sunday and into Monday morning to allow the investigation to take place. It was reopened around 11 a.m. Monday.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Windsor police's Major Crime Unit at (519) 255-6700, ext. 4830, or submit an anonymous tip via Crime Stoppers.
