Rebrand for Unemployed Help Centre

For the first time in 44 years, the Unemployed Help Centre is updating its branding.

From now on, it will be known as "UHC - Hub of Opportunities."

Since opening its doors in 1977 to help laid off and unemployed autoworkers find meaningful employment, the centre has branched out to offer services to a far greater swath of the Windsor-Essex community.

"For so long now, we have been offering 26 programs and services under one roof. That is almost unheard of," said CEO June Muir. "We range from basic human services to employment to newcomer assistance and education and training. We truly do offer something for everyone, and this change in our brand will help bring that awareness to the community."

Muir said the old moniker pigeon-holed the centre into just an employment service.

"When I talk to people about my involvement with UHC and share everything we do for the community, they are absolutely astonished," said President of the Board of Directors Gary Parent. "We want to get the word out that we're here for everybody so that those who can benefit from the knowledge and expertise of the dedicated staff are able to achieve their full potential."

UHC Hub of Opportunities also has a new logo.

It has two locations, in Windsor and Belle River.
