Health Unit opens up vaccinations at mass clinics to those 55 and up

If you were born in 1966 or earlier, you may now book an appointment to get a COVID-19 vaccination at one of the region's five mass clinics.

The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit has opened vaccination up to those who are 55 and up.

Vaccinations with the Pfizer shot are being administered at the WFCU Centre, the St. Clair College Sportsplex, and Windsor Hall in Windsor, and at the Libro Credit Union Centre in Amherstburg and the Nature Fresh Farms Recreation Centre in Leamington.

The health unit is also offering shots at the 1407 Moy Clinic.

All appointments must be booked in advance either online at wevax.ca or by calling the vaccination booking centre at 226-773-2200. Be patient. It may take multiple tries to get through to an attendant.

The health unit is also vaccinating those with very high and high-risk illnesses, while those 40 and up can book an appointment at a participating pharmacy. You can find out more about who is eligible for a shot and what pharmacies are taking part in the program is posted on wevax.ca.

Going to your appointment, you will need your health card or any other government-issued photo identification. That includes a driver's license, passport, Status Card, or another provincial health card.
