Health officials in Windsor-Essex reported an increase of 65 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday.
According to the local health unit, 24 cases are close contacts of confirmed cases, six are community-acquired and one is outbreak-related. The remaining 34 cases are still under investigation.
The overall case count in Windsor-Essex is now at 15,191. As of Sunday, there are 482 active cases and 14 hospitalizations. To date, 765 preliminary or confirmed variant of concern cases have been identified in the region.
There were 54 more recoveries reported over the past 24 hours, bringing the number of resolved cases up to 14,296.
One additional workplace outbreak was also reported on Sunday, bringing the total to 11. There is also one long-term care outbreak, one community outbreak at Southwest Detention Centre and two school outbreaks.
Meanwhile, there were no new deaths reported on Sunday, with the death toll in the region remaining at 413.
As of Sunday, 124,562 residents have received at least one dose of a vaccine.
Across Ontario, provincial health officials reported 3,947 new cases on Sunday, 24 more deaths and 4,239 additional recoveries. Currently, there are 2,126 people hospitalized with COVID-19 in the province. As of Saturday night, the province had administered 4,626,903 doses of the vaccine.
