Pandemic doesn't slow giving at Windsor Assembly Plant

Even during a challenging time, workers and retirees at the Windsor Assembly Plant are coming through for the United Way's biggest fundraising campaign.

While donations may be down some from past years, the workers and retirees still managed to donate $943,149 to the United Way/Centraide Windsor-Essex County 2020-2021 campaign.

"Without their generosity, we simply would not have been able to maintain our support for community programs," said local United Way CEO Lorraine Goddard. "COVID-19 has challenged many non-profits, and FCA Canada's giving helps with our focus on assisting local children and youth, and supporting mental health in surrounding neighbourhoods."

The money will help support a number of programs this year including a lunch pilot program at 12 schools in the region. A full lunch is provided to children from low-income households who otherwise would have no lunch or one with limited nutritional value.

It will also help fund the virtual learning pilot project where 150 laptop computers will support at-home learning for youth in low-income neighbourhoods.

"In this challenging year, FCA Canada employees have demonstrated even further resolve in their unwavering support to help give back to those facing mental, social, and financial struggles," said Dave Buckingham, the President and CEO of FCA Canada.
