SIU investigating death of Windsor man

The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is looking into the death of a man at a Hall Avenue home.

First responders were called to the home at around 8:20 a.m. Monday, April 12 for a medical distress call. Windsor police officers were the first to arrive at the location and found the man in a bedroom.

Officers began providing first aid to the man until paramedics arrived and took over. The man was then rushed to hospital, where he was pronounced dead less than three hours later.

Windsor police have notified the SIU, which has invoked its mandate and assigned three investigators and a forensic specialist to the case.

The SIU is contacted whenever a law-enforcement agency is involved in an incident where death, serious injury, or sexual assault has taken place.

Anyone with information on this matter is asked to call the SIU at 1-800-787-8529. Those who may have video footage or other evidence to share are asked to use the link on the SIU website.
