Windsor police investigate armed robbery

Police in Windsor are searching for a suspect wanted in connection to a robbery in the city's south end.

Around 12 p.m. Wednesday, officers responded to a business on Dougall Avenue near West Grand Boulevard for reports of a person with a firearm.

Through investigation, officers learned that a man allegedly attended the business and produced a firearm. He left the area before police arrived.

No injuries were reported during the incident.

Officers were able to obtain video surveillance in the area and were able to identify the suspect and determined that he was staying at a nearby premise.

However, the suspect fled the area in a red Honda CRV.

Investigators from the Major Crime Unit applied for and were granted a search warrant for the premise that the man was staying at. Officers were able to seize items of evidential value.

Chad Coupe, a 19 year old from London, is wanted for robbery with an offensive weapon, possession of a firearm while prohibited, possession of weapons that are dangerous to the public and failing to comply with a Youth Criminal Justice Act sentence.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Coupe and Windsor police are seeking any information in relation to his whereabouts. He is known to have ties in London, Chatham and the Kitchener/Waterloo areas.

Chad Coupe is described as a caucasian male, approximately 6 feet tall, 145 lbs. with a medium build, brown hair and blue eyes.

The suspect vehicle has since been located in another jurisdiction and was seized for further investigation.

The firearm used in the incident has not been located. According to police, Coupe should be considered armed and dangerous and not be approached.
