Essex names new deputy fire chief

Essex Fire and Rescue Services has a new deputy chief.

The municipality announced Jason Pillon has been promoted into the position, following a nearly 25 year career with the town.

Pillon became a volunteer firefighter in Harrow in 1997. Since then, he climbed the ranks including captain and battalion chief.

In 2015, he was promoted and served as an assistant deputy fire chief while also educating the public on fire prevention.

"His [Jason] wide range of experience, in-depth knowledge of fire operations, and commitment to continued education will be great assets as he transitions into his role as Deputy Chief," said Essex's fire chief Rick Arnel.

In his new position, Pillon will be responsible for assisting with administration, fire suppression, prevention and rescue activities of the department and all three stations.

Personnel recruitment, equipment purchases, and prepping departmental budgets will also be added to Pillon's list of new duties as the deputy chief.
