One lucky Amherstburg man and his family have a good reason to celebrate this weekend.
Lee Evans, a 47-year-old father of two, said he always plays numbers that are special to him -- like birthdays.
Saying "yes" to Encore paid off for Evans after he won $1 million by matching all seven numbers in exact order in the April 2 Lotto Max draw.
"I scanned my ticket while in my car and didn’t believe what I was seeing," Evans said. "My wife and I were overjoyed!"
The automotive worker said he plans to use his winnings wisely by investing it and saving some for his children's education. Evans said he also hopes to take a vacation when it's safe to travel again.
"This feels unreal," he said. "It’s so overwhelming – a big sigh of relief."
The winning ticket was sold at Simcoe Variety in Amherstburg.
