LaSalle police charge woman with impaired driving

A Windsor woman will be walking for 90 days after police in LaSalle arrested her for driving with an excessive blood-alcohol level.

LaSalle police say the woman was stopped Thursday night on Malden Road, after the officer noticed that the vehicle was being driven in an erratic manner. Upon pulling the driver over and interviewing her, the officer concluded she was allegedly driving while impaired.

The driver was arrested and taken to LaSalle police headquarters where additional testing was performed.  Once completed, it was determined that the woman had a blood-alcohol concentration was over four times the legal limit of 80 milligrams of alcohol in blood.

Police say the woman was provided with medical attention due to the state of intoxication, then released with a court date to respond to the charge.

As per the Ontario Highway Act, the woman's vehicle was impounded for seven days, with an automatic 90-day suspension of her driver licence.

The driver's name has not been released.
