UPDATE: Over 100 students dismissed from Windsor-Essex Catholic schools

A number of students won't be returning to school Tuesday, after cases of COVID-19 were confirmed at seven Windsor Essex Catholic schools.

Each school has one confirmed case of COVID-19. In Tecumseh, 22 students were dismissed from St. Peter Catholic Elementary School, as well as 17 additional students who ride the bus. Meanwhile in Belle River, 24 students from St. John the Baptist Catholic Elementary School were dismissed.

Meanwhile, a class of 29 students we dismissed from St. Gabriel Catholic Elementary School, as well as a class of 26 students from St. Teresa of Calcutta Elementary School.

At. St. Mary Catholic Elementary School in Maidstone, a class of 20 students was dismissed, as well as five students who ride the bus. Meanwhile, at Christopher Catholic Elementary School, a class of 22 students has been dismissed

Lastly, a class of 19 students was dismissed from Corpus Christi Catholic Middle School.

The cases were confirmed Sunday, and affected students were notified not to return to school Tuesday this afternoon.

The health unit is contacting any individuals, both students and staff, who may have been affected, and will give directions for them to follow. Only those who have been contacted by the Health Unit are considered to be at risk.
