Point Pelee Drive between Ellis Street and Mersea Road 12 in Leamington is closed because of a fire at a former restaurant.
Rob Spring was driving by around 7 a.m. Thursday morning, and told BlackburnNews.com Paula's Fish Place was fully engulfed.
Leamington Fire Chief Andrew Baird says the building was destroyed.
"By the time the first passerby noticed it, flames were pouring out the back," he said. "It was pretty much gone by the time firefighters got there."
Firefighters arrived around 6 a.m.
Baird said no one was hurt and a value hasn't been attached to the loss.
"The property had just sold and we don't know how much they paid for it," he explained.
Paula's Fish Place closed over a month ago after 27 years in business.
The cause is listed as undetermined, and the Office of the Ontario Fire Marshal has been called.
