Catholic board dismisses students at two Windsor schools

The Windsor Essex Catholic District School Board (WECDSB) has dismissed students at two local schools after confirmed cases of COVID-19.

A class of 21 students from St. John Vianney Catholic Elementary School and 10 students from Holy Names Catholic High School both in Windsor were dismissed on Friday.

In a written release, the school board announced that it was notified of the confirmed cases on Friday afternoon and has since been working with the Windsor Essex County Health Unit (WECHU) by providing lists of staff and students who may have been directly affected.

The WECDSB said it has also sent out a message to both school communities reassuring parents that if they have not been contacted by the health unit, they have not been identified as close contacts and may continue to attend school as usual.

Parents are asked to continue to monitor their children for symptoms of COVID-19 before sending them to school each morning.

There are currently five COVID-19 outbreaks within the WECDSB schools. More information can be found by clicking here.
