Drugs seized from vehicle in Belle River

Two people are facing charges after a vehicle was searched by provincial police in Belle River.

According to the OPP, on the evening of March 9, members of the Community Street Crimes Unit investigated a vehicle in the parking lot of Belle River Marina. The investigation was being done as part of proactive patrols due to complaints of alcohol and drug use in the area.

Officers observed cannabis in the vehicle and both parties were told to get out of the vehicle due to the contravention under the Cannabis Control Act.

After further investigation, officers located a quantity of cocaine, a scale, and money.

As a result, a 21-year-old from Windsor is charged with having care and control of a motor vehicle with cannabis readily available. No name was provided by police.

Marius Antoneac, 21 of Lakeshore, is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine) and resisting arrest.

None of the charges have been proven in court.
