Inspectors to visit small businesses in Windsor

Provincial inspectors will be in Windsor this weekend to make sure businesses are following the COVID-19 rules.

They were last here in January, and at that time, they focused on big box stores. This time, small businesses, restaurants, and bars will get the attention.

Inspectors from the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit will be helping out too.

Corporations that violate orders under the Reopening Ontario Act and the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act could be fined $1,000.

Employees could face a $750 penalty.

More serious violations could mean a $100,000 fine for individuals, $500,000 for directors of corporations, or $10-million for the corporation itself.
