Students dismissed from Catholic school in Windsor

Due to a positive COVID-19 case, two cohorts of students have been dismissed from a Catholic elementary school in Windsor.

The Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board (WECDSB) announced that the families of 31 students at St. Teresa of Calcutta Catholic Elementary School were informed of the dismissal on Wednesday.

According to a release from the school board, one of the cohorts is a group students from one class, while the other is from one of the school's buses.

"We have been working with the health unit by providing lists of students and staff who may have been directly affected," said communications coordinator Stephen Fields. "The health unit is contacting any individuals, both students and staff, who may have been affected, and will give directions for them to follow."

Only parents with children who are directly affected will be contacted. If that has not been the case, their children may continue attending class as usual.

The board reminds parents to monitor their children for COVID-19 symptoms before they leave for school each morning. If kids are experiencing symptoms, do not send them to school. Keep them home and contact your health care provider for further instructions.

There are currently five active cases of COVID-19 at three WECDSB schools. More information about the cases can be found here.
