The health unit continues to encourage residents aged 80 and over to pre-register for a vaccine appointment through its website or by calling the hotline(519-251-4072). There are now 11,800 seniors registered for the vaccine.

On Monday, the health unit gave out first doses to 144 seniors over the age of 80 at the WFCU Centre.

"The City of Windsor has done a great job transforming the WFCU Centre into a welcoming vaccine site for our seniors," said CEO and Chief Nursing Officer Theresa Marentette.

Appointments continue throughout the week at the Windsor site. A second vaccination site in Leamington will start vaccinating residents on March 8.

Vaccines are being given out by appointment only and all recipients are randomly selected for appointments. With the current vaccine supply, the health unit is able to book around 200 appointments a day at each location.
