Northwood School student tests positive for COVID-19

The local English public school board has confirmed a new case of COVID-19 in one of its buildings.

The Greater Essex County District School Board reported on its website that a student at Northwood Public School in Windsor tested positive for the virus. Neither the student nor their cohort is being identified.

Board spokesman Scott Scantlebury told Blackburn News that all affected students and their parents have been notified.

As of Monday afternoon, a total of five students and one staff member have tested positive throughout the GECDSB since February 19.

The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit reported no current outbreaks at any of the four school boards serving the region. However, the Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board reported three cases at W.J. Langlois Catholic Elementary School in Windsor over the weekend. A case at Cardinal Carter Catholic Middle School in Leamington brought that board's current total to four.

At the French Catholic board, Conseil Scolaire Catholique Providence, three schools have one student case apiece, according to the province's official website. They are Monseigneur Jean Noël Elementary and E.J. Lajeunesse Secondary in Windsor, and Saint-Ambroise Elementary in Lakeshore.
