Multiple students dismissed from W.J. Langlois Catholic Elementary School

A total of 61 students from three cohorts have been dismissed from W.J. Langlois Catholic Elementary School after three cases of COVID-19 were confirmed there.

The dismissals come under the direction of the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit.

Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board learned of the confirmed cases on Saturday, and has since informed the affected students that they are not to return to school on Monday.

"We have been working with the health unit by providing lists of students and staff who may have been directly affected," said the school board in a statement. "The health unit is contacting any individuals, both students and staff, who may have been affected, and will give directions for them to follow."

A message was sent home Saturday informing parents that if they have not been contacted by the health unit, they have not been identified as close contacts and their children may continue attending school as usual. Follow-up letters will be sent home with students.
