COVID-19 outbreak confirmed at WRH Met campus

Windsor Regional Hospital has reported a COVID-19 outbreak at its Metropolitan Campus.

The hospital reported Thursday afternoon that the outbreak is located in the 7-North (7N) unit. Five patients in this unit have tested positive for COVID-19 along with one staff member.

"Precautions remain in place across both campuses and on all units to identify potential outbreaks early," read a release from the hospital. "All patients are tested for COVID-19 before admission into hospital, whether they are symptomatic or not."

As a precaution, visitors will not be allowed in the outbreak unit until the cases are resolved.

This outbreak is the only one in effect at the Met campus, and it comes one day after an outbreak was declared at the Ouellette Campus, in the Clinical Teaching Unit. There, three patients tested positive with testing underway for other patients.
