Outbreak rescinded at Village of Aspen Lake, cases down at Village at St. Clair

After more than two months, an outbreak of COVID-19 at the Village at St. Clair is down to just five active cases.

Schlegel Villages said five neighbourhoods at the long-term care home had resolved all their cases. Three others still have infections, including four residents and a team member.

At one time, more than 100 residents there were infected, and half as many staff members.

Vice President of Operations Joanne Potts also said an outbreak at The Village of Aspen Lake has been rescinded, and the long-term care home is returning to some semblance of normalcy.

"For both of our Windsor Villages and so many other settings, COVID-19 has had a devastating impact," she said. "Despite the sadness and loss -- our teams continue to work with our partners to support residents through it all."

As of Tuesday, all eligible residents in both facilities had received their second dose of the Moderna vaccine. Team members and essential caregivers who were not able to get their first shot have had it now.

"We are hopeful that these positive trends and accomplishments at St. Clair will enable them to join Aspen Lake in exiting their outbreak in the near future," Potts said. "It's been a long, difficult journey for both villages here in Windsor."
