Employees at Stellantis' Windsor Assembly Plant will be getting an unexpected break beginning next week.
According to a tweet from Unifor Local 444, which represents plant employees, a part shortage has forced production to stop for three weeks, effective Monday.
Few details have been released, but the union said the shutdown is due to a shortage of parts used to create microchips for vehicles.

Windsor Assembly is not the only Canadian auto plant to be affected by a part shortage. On Wednesday, General Motors announced it was shutting down its CAMI plant in Ingersoll for at least a week due to a shortage of computer chips.
Stellantis Canada spokesperson LouAnn Gosselin provided a statement to Blackburn News Friday morning.
"We are working closely with our global supply chain network to manage the manufacturing impact caused by the global microchip shortage and will continue to make production adjustments as necessary," the statement read.
