Art in the Park planning for a June event

Despite the cancellation already of some other major festivals, the organizers of Art in the Park are hopeful this year's edition will go ahead.

The Rotary Club of Windsor is putting out a call for exhibitors. There will not be as many this year because of the pandemic, but it is accepting applications until February 28.

The jury will notify accepted artisans by March 30.

Organizers said they should know by May 15 if they will have to cancel the event. If they do, exhibitors and vendors will receive a full refund.

"Art in the park 2021 will be making some changes to ensure everybody's safety, such as online ticket sales, mandatory mask wearing, and physical distancing," sadi Chair of Art in the Park, Greg DeHetre. "Although the event may look a bit different, we are committed to bringing this signature event -- to the community."

Jodi Ouellette with the Rotary Club of Windsor 1918 added, "the health and safety of our stakeholders is our paramount concern."

Last year's event was cancelled because of COVID-19, but this year's edition is scheduled for the weekend of Saturday, June 5 and Sunday, June 6 at Willistead Park.

Art in the Park is the Rotary Club of Windsor 1918's biggest fundraiser of the year and helps fund numerous projects locally and abroad.

"Because we were unable to go ahead with Art in the Park 2020, it severely affected our ability to fund these projects," said Club President Gerry Pocock. "A 2021 Art in the Park will allow us to kick-start our spending, for the much-needed services we provide in the community."
