Single case of COVID-19 identified at St. Clair College

The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit has identified a single case of COVID-19 in a student at St. Clair College.

The Health Unit said a class the student attended on January 20 is now being monitored.

In response to the case, St. Clair College has cancelled classes for affected staff and students for Monday, January 25 as the Health Unit continues their investigation.

"The St. Clair College community extends its best wishes for a speedy and thorough recovery," said the college in a statement.

The Health Unit said that three individuals have been advised to self-isolate. All other affected individuals have received letters to self-monitor and follow public health guidelines.

St. Clair College is working with the Public Health Unit as they investigate the details and assess the level of risk. Several protocols have been implemented to curb any further spread of COVID-19. Students and staff have been asked to fill out an online questionnaire daily in order to obtain access to campuses. Meanwhile, personal protective equipment has been provided to students and staff in labs and workshops.
