Hospitals no longer offering COVID-19 testing to international travellers

Starting Friday, you will not be able to get a test for COVID-19 for international travel purposes at hospital-run assessment centres.

That includes Windsor Regional Hospital's Ouellette Campus assessment centre and the one at Erie Shores Healthcare.

"COVID-19 tests for the purpose of international travel-clearance are not recommended by Ontario's public health experts," read a release from Windsor Regional Hospital. "Ontario provided these tests for free until it was in a position to ensure travellers, who need a test, for this reason, would have an alternative option."

Travellers are instead advised to consult their travel carrier's guidelines to make sure they have the most up-to-date information about requirements. They can also check the federal government's travel website for the latest expectations.

Asymptomatic residents can get tested at three Shoppers Drug Mart locations in the city. They are at Howard Avenue and Tecumseh Road East, in Tecumseh Mall, and on Huron Church Road at Prince Road.
