Group dismissed from Windsor's Desmarais School

Add Windsor's L.A. Desmarais Catholic Elementary School to the list of those affected by COVID-19.

The Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board reported Thursday afternoon that a cohort of 21 students from the Forest Glade school has been sent home after a confirmed case was discovered.

"We want to assure parents that we are cooperating with the health unit and doing everything we can to make sure that we continue to provide safe and healthy learning environments for their children," said board spokesman Stephen Fields.

The board's website showed that the positive case involved a student, but as always, the student's identity is not being disclosed.

Parents of the students in the affected cohort have already been notified and told to keep their children home. Classes for all other students at Desmarais School will take place Friday as usual.

Desmarais is the seventh school in the WECDSB to currently be affected by COVID-19. According to the board's website Thursday evening, the only current outbreak at the board affects Corpus Christi Middle School's Central Park Athletics campus, with a total of eight student cases.
