Additional cohort of students dismissed from River Canard catholic school

A catholic elementary school in River Canard has dismissed another cohort of students due to COVID-19.

St. Joseph Catholic Elementary School was notified about the affected students on Saturday. As a result, one class of 20 students, and an additional 18 students from a bus cohort have been told not to attend school next week.

Last Sunday, a cohort of 26 students were dismissed from the school due to positive COVID-19 results.

The Windsor Essex Catholic District School Board (WECDSB) said it sent a message to the school community to reassure staff and parents that if they have not been contacted by the health unit, they have not been identified as close contacts, and can continue attending school as usual.

In a written statement, the school board said it is cooperating with the unit to provide safe learning environments for students. The WECDSB is also reminding families to monitor their children for symptoms of COVID-19 each morning and to keep them home if they are ill.
